One by one the items contained in the list on the yellow lined post-in pad are getting crossed off. The days on the calendar tick by--slow. So slow. But then, she goes to post on her xanga and realizes it's been another 3-4 weeks that she's put up an update. Time is moving and the (D) DAY might actually arrive at some point. Maybe. If not, she will go down in history as the person-who-stayed-pregnant-always. Today, the item on the list that fiii--in--ally got completed was bringing in those boy touches for the kids' room a.k.a used-to-be Abbi's room. It will now be the kids room. A sprightly new chevron covers over the bland mint green print of the original dust ruffle. The faded gray changing mat is now fresh w/ a white/blue and green cover. Blue is for boy, after all. Pink hasn't' completely disappeared. This capiz wind chime had been purchased at a close-out sale somewhere and never got put to use. I think baby would enjoy watching the round shapes tinkle in the breeze, despite the fact that they betray his gender. And my, does that boy have clothes!! seriously. The funny thing is, I prly spend under 100 bucks to outfit this kids for the next 3-6 months, most likely even less then that. I picked up a few things here and there. A MOPS friend gave a bag of yardsale leftovers. My SIL allowed me to dig through her two bags of clothes, another stack from another SIL, and oh-la, the drawers are full to overflowing! Poor child has nothing 'new' to call his own. i hope he doesn't mind. Shoes?? oh. MY. There are shoes. I picked some up here and there, and apparently Jenn has the same little-boy-shoe weakness cuz she lent me 4 or 5 more pair. I'm guessing he'll prly not even wear shoes much, but at least they are there if he so chooses Outfitted into the winter thanks to Jenn's stash. And oh my. There are some little newborn man clothes that just MELT. me. So another un-checked item on the list is packing my bags for the hospital and abbi for the babysitter. Well, there is an exception. SOMEONE's bags are packed, and they are not mine or Abbi's. Well, yes, I do believe Abbi and I are pretty excited about outfitting the little dude to come home with us, cuz his bag is P.a.c.k.e.d. And what fun it was too If little guy needs a jacket in this heat, he will wear the same little clover leaf jacket that Abbi wore home from the hospital. I decided to make that jacket a little coming-home tradition. In other news, this baby-mama has been keeping busy these last weeks. I am just amazed how the days and weeks fill up. Each day I have a list and usually don't get it all completed. I do feel happier just puttering along doing stuff, and then pausing, of course, for a 2 hr. siesta with my daughter in the cool of the air condition each afternoon. Things that have been so fun the last few weeks (but of which I have no pics): VBS. Taking Abbi for her first time. She loved it, of course. I ended up helping out w/ the 2 yr. old class when they ended up having a population explosion. Road-trips: I may have just happened to catch a ride w/ a friend up to NY one weekend and surprised my family for a day. That was fun. It was good to be up there one last time before baby. Pool-parties: we've had one so far and it was so much fun. And then also, we also had a playdate at the lake one day. Both times w/ mom-friends from church. It's always fun to watch the kids have a blast, and to get some sun as well. My friends Sherry, Liz and I got together in lieu of our annual beach trip. With Sherry and I ready to bust, we decided to lay aside the beach trip for this year. We were going to settle for a day at the pool instead but then it was too chilly, so we spent the day at a cafe, then came back here for talking and watching movies. Just this week, I did go to the beach tho! Yep. 38 weeks PG and all! Went w/ 4 mom-friends from church and NO kids. Boy it was fun AND I didn't even go into labor So, i had to go steal a few of Bek's pics Stopping to eat on the way home. Bek, Tanya, Myself and Shannon. So now that that beach trip is checked off the calender, there is really nothing more that I'd like to do besides having this baby. Two weeks, I can do this! I do know we aren't really planning to go overdue w/ going for the VBAC and all, so baby will most likely be here in two, give or take a few days. That helps me in the times when it feels like forever. We had a massive t-storm early this morning, then I had a midwife visit today. She said that if that storm's pressure didn't break my water, then I've prly got another week at least. BUT also, I measuring 4 weeks smaller today, so baby likely dropped! We shall see. Anyway, so most days are good. Some are better then others, but this really has been, for the most part, a really really good last trimester. |
